Irishwoman of the Year
The Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade committee is celebrating its 10thanniversary this year by naming its first Irishwoman of the Year: Brenda O’Farrell.
A long-time resident of St. Lazare, O’Farrell is a well-known journalist who has covered the West Island and Off Island regions for many years. A former senior news editor at the Montreal Gazette, she now runs her own media company, which handles the Canadian operations for an international media firm that publishes Investing.com, and produces the only provincial newspaper serving Quebec’s English-speaking rural community, The Advocate. She is also Editor-in-Chief of Rabble.ca.
A graduate of Concordia University’s journalism department, where she also taught writing courses, she is currently a member of the board of directors of the Quebec Community Newspapers’ Association.
